Well, we had our first scare and went to Labor and Delivery Thursday night...
Apparently, my round ligament did something, and that was the big pain I felt at about 2 in the afternoon. Man, that really hurt. I mean, like dropped me to the floor, holding on to the chair hoping not to pass out or puke hurt.
Then, from that time on I had slight cramping that progressively got worse. We had our childbirth class that night so we decided to go there and see what our instructor had to say about it. She's a L&D nurse. After class, after having 9 pains on top of the constant crampiness, she told us to go to the hospital and get checked out, just in case. Better safe then sorry. We agreed. I'd rather they laugh at me then have something wrong with Emily.
Once there the nurse was really nice. I changed into the gown and she hooked us up to the monitors. I had 2 more pains while on the monitor, but only one registered(Yikes for real contractions then!!) They had me drink a lot of water, and just watched to see how we were. She said it was just ligament pain, and told us to go home. We both questioned her about it and she said "Yes, it can really, really, hurt, and just come on out of nowhere" so that made us both feel better.
I thought I would feel dumb for going in, but up until now I have felt so good, and it really worried us when just out of the blue, I started hurting. Oh man, at the gas station I had a pain that hurt enough that I got out of the car, walked over to Bruce filling the car, stood with him, filled the tank, got in the car and it still hurt. It was very manageable pain, however I was just so scared with us being still 8 weeks early. I think (maybe) had I really been in labor, at full term, I wouldn't have been so freaked. But who knows???
Anyway, I stayed home from work Friday and rested all weekend. I had some pain from jumping up and down with the Viking's win yesterday, but one Tylenol took care of that.
I hope we don't have to go back there for about another 7 weeks! :)
